Stanley William Hayter (1901-1988) is a British painter and printmaker. He spent most of his life in Paris and opened a workshop for the graphic arts in 1927, which was later named "Atelier 17." His earlier works are mostly associated with Surrealism while his later works follow the Abstract Expressionist approach. His work varies in technique and style and focuses on his fascination with texture and color.
